What size Skimboard do I need?

The right skimboard size depends on your weight and skill level. Riders under 45 kg should choose a 35”- 40” board, those between 45 - 68 kg will benefit from a 40”- 45” board. If you're 68 - 90kg then a 45”- 50” board is ideal, and for riders over 90 kg, a 50”+ board provides the best performance.

Smaller boards are great for tricks but offer less float, while larger boards provide more stability, making them better for beginners. The Osprey 41” Skimboard is the perfect versatile choice, offering a balance of control and speed for both beginners and intermediate riders.

How to Skimboard?

Find the Right Spot:
Look for shallow, fast moving water near the shore.

Pick the Right Skimboard Size:
Choose a board that fits your weight and skill level. Our 41" is a great all round size for begginer to advanced.

Run Toward the Water:
Place the board on the sand and run toward the water, keeping the board close.

Throw and Jump On the Board:
As you reach the water, throw the board down and jump on it quickly.

Balance and Ride:
Lean forward to gain speed and ride across the water.

Practice Turning and Stopping:
To turn, shift your weight. To stop, jump off or shift back.

With practice, you’ll get better at riding and doing tricks in no time!

How to wax a Skimboard?

You'll firstly want to clean the top of the board and make sure it's dry, then use the right wax for your water temperature - surfboard wax works great. Rub the wax in small circles where you stand, apply a few layers for better grip and make sure to press down to smooth the wax evenly. Test the grip with your feet and add more wax if it's still slippery. Now you're ready to skim with better control!
